Celebrating a century of technical education while opening a new conversation on science, engineering and society.
HRH The Prince of Wales Institute of Engineering & Technology (POWIET), Jorhat, traces its origins to a wartime technical school and was formally established in 1927 with the generous support of the Assamese timber merchant, Late Bholanath Boruah.
Academic instruction commenced on 16 January 1928, placing POWIET among the oldest technical institutions in North East India. Over the decades, the institute has continued to contribute to technical education and human resource development in the region.
POWIET has progressively broadened its academic and technical horizons. Civil Engineering was introduced in 1948, followed by Electrical and Mechanical Engineering in 1957. Automobile and Agricultural Engineering were introduced in 1976 and 1978 respectively, while Electronics & Telecommunication and Instrumentation Engineering were introduced in 1986.
As the institute approaches its centenary, 1927–2027, CIDSESRF-2027 provides a platform for researchers, faculty members, scientists, engineers, students and industry professionals to explore the convergence of science, engineering and society in shaping a more resilient future.
The conference seeks to foster original research, applied innovation and meaningful interdisciplinary exchange while encouraging new perspectives on emerging challenges and opportunities.
